Press Room: Media Releases09 Feb 2009Wotif.com dishes the dirt on wot Kiwi’s really want!AUCKLAND – 9 February 2009: 78% of Kiwi’s are dreaming of a romantic escape for Valentine’s Day but it’s likely going to be a letdown with a whopping 55% of people expecting no gift at all. Online accommodation website Wotif.com surveyed over 2,000 New Zealanders to uncover what people are expecting this Valentine’s Day and what they really want to receive. Respondents revealed their romantic status with over 46% being attached, 36% hitched, 7% stating their status as complicated and 11% either single or searching for love. While most people said they would prefer a hotel escape over traditional flowers, an edible treat, something naughty, or a gimmicky toy, sadly only 7% believe they will actually get one. Wotif.com’s Brand Manager, Megan Magill said that “With Valentine’s Day falling on the weekend, it’s the perfect excuse to spoil your loved one and turn the occasion into a spontaneous short break” Ms Magill commented that hotels on the site offer great inclusions this time of year to entice the late bookers and appeal to people to getaway for the most romantic day of the year. Ms Magill added that there has already been a rush on Wotif.com Gift Vouchers as more people realise that they are a great present that you and your Valentine can mutually share. New Zealand survey results: Wot is your current status? Wot are you likely to get for Valentine's Day? Notes to the Editor *Wotif.com’s Valentine’s Day survey was conducted online via the Wotif.com website and promoted via the Wotif.com newsletters.
